Today Art Museum in Beijing, is China’s first private, non-profit museum. The museum’s mission is to support the development of Chinese contemporary art.

Established in 2001, by Zhang Bao Quan, president of the Anteus Corporation, the museum moved to its current location, an abandoned beer factory, in 2004. After renovations, the museum opened with a solo exhibit of Fang Li Jun‘s art work.

Designed by architect Wang Hui, Today Art Museum lies in Pingod Community, covering 1400㎡. As a steel-structured architecture with 5 floors, about 2500㎡ for exhibition, it’s convenient for TAM to hold exhibitions as well as events involving about 1000 persons. With 40m in length, 32m in width and 30m in height, the building consists of three exhibition floors. The 2nd floor with 12.5m in height is the main exhibition area covering 1000㎡, while the 3rd floor designed flexibly to get rid of grip from traditional concepts.

Designed by artists Wang Jianwei and Wang Hui, the permanent outdoor installation “Viewing the Exhibition” on the roof of the building adds another share of contemporary flavor to TAM.
